Photo: VCG BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) Peking University (PKU) has announced the admission of 2,941 international students from 115 countries and regions for its undergraduate and graduate programs in 2022, the university said Tuesday. The number has increased by 153 compared with the previous year, representing an increase of 5.5 percent, according to a statement by the university. The university's Schwarzman Scholars program, an international affairs studies program, will enroll 143 students from 39 countries and regions, with 48 percent holding a master's degree or above upon enrollment. Among the international undergraduates, 142 are from the Belt and Road countries, and 110 are from the Greater Bay Area. A total of 1,796 undergraduate students will be enrolled in 2022, majoring in Chinese, economics, law, medicine, engineering, science, and the humanities. Students from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, and Nigeria accounted for the largest number of students. International students studying at PKU now come from 162 countries and regions. A total of 11,008 international students are currently studying in the university, with more than 8,000 pursuing master's, doctoral or postdoctoral degrees.
