\section{ABSTRACT}
An image processing method based on and statistical information. The image is contained in data formats, such as photographic images, and is represented by a uniform square grid of cells. Color information of cell is represented by a Red Green Blue (RGB) component. Pixels with similar information, such as color, temperature, texture, etc., are grouped together to form an object. The pixel members belonging to the same object share common properties. For each object, statistical parameters were derived. This results in a reduced set of statistical parameters with significantly reduced redundancy. Hence, the retrieval of the images was much more efficient. An image can be reconstructed based on the collective statistical information of all the various objects it contains. Accordingly, the invention provides an effective and efficient method for image processing and object retrieval that greatly reduces memory requirement and processing time.
